Tips on How to Effectively Lose Weight without Going Under the Knife

Are you looking to lose weight? Have you been considering getting cosmetic weight loss surgery to help you get the body you always dreamed of?

This is a very important decision for you to make. It is expensive and may not be the most effective way to achieve the healthy long-term results. Whether you want to boost your self-esteem or are trying to get healthier, please keep in mind this is only a short-term fix. The majority of people who opt for weight loss surgery tend to gain the weight back within a few years because they never changed their lifestyle.

There are steps you can take to achieve a healthy weight you want that is cost-effective and will change your overall quality of life for the better! Here are a few tips you can adopt in your life now to lose weight and keep it off.

  1. Diet

You are what you put into your body. If you are putting junk food that are overly processed, high in fat, sodium, and calories then it will take its toll on your body. For every 3,500 calories you eat over your daily caloric intake, you will gain one pound. Remember to eat only what your body can handle and adopt a diet that is high in vegetables and fruits. A simple, yet effective trick is to focus on adding healthier foods into your diet. The thought of adding may make your brain crave those unhealthy items more, but a mentality of adding makes it easier to commit to this new way of eating.

  2. Get moving!

Aim to do at least 30 minutes of physical activity, five times a week. Be sure to let your body rest a full day so you do not overwork yourself. Keep in mind, physical activity is anything that involves your body moving and burning calories. So this could be as simple as doing housework, jogging, swimming, biking, dancing, etc. The list of activities to do can go on and on! If you do not have a full 30 minutes in a day, break it up into three 10 minute session. As you gradually get used to exercising, work your way up. Take classes and get a workout buddy so it creates accountability between the two of you.

Working together with someone on a goal is much easier to achieve than doing it alone!

  3. Stay Hydrated

When we say stay hydrated, we do not mean drink Gatorade. These sports drinks are full of sugar, which are empty calories your body does not need. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Your body is made of 60% water, so water is pertinent to keeping it healthy. Benefits of drinking water are:

  4. Helps maintain the balance of body fluids

  5. Help control calories by curbing hunger

  6. Energizes muscles

  7. Keeps the skin hydrated and looking amazing

  8. Promoted healthy kidneys

  9. Helps maintain normal bowel function to release waste and toxins out of your body

Add more water in your diet and opt for reusable bottles as an eco-friendly option.

  1. Walk It Off!

Not only is walking a great way to lose weight, but it is also a perfect way to relax and de-stress. Stress can cause many to gain unwanted weight. If the weather is nice outside, go out for a walk and enjoy nature! There is no time frame for it, but we like to walk for at least 20 minutes. You will be amazed at how great you feel at the end of it. Do it once a day or even twice a day, if needed.

  2. Learn Portion Control

The majority of portions in restaurants is three times the size of a healthy portion someone should eat. With this in mind, opt to share your food. It will not only save you money, but also keeps you from overeating and wasting a day worth of calories in one sitting. If there is no one to share with, then ask the server to box up half the meal so you can save it for later.

  3. Look Beyond the Scale

What the scale says does not accurately define how healthy you are. Muscle is more dense than fat, so a pound of muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat. So the number on the scale may go up, but you appear thinner. We believe the best way is to measure your size and use that to track progress. Use your clothes to see if they fit looser to determine if you are losing weight.

  1. Be Patient

Things like this take time. Losing 1-2 pounds a week is a healthy rate of weight loss. Understand that if you want to keep the weight off and change your lifestyle for the better, then you have to stay focused, keep pushing, and in the end it will all pay off. You will look in the mirror one day and be so proud of the new person looking back at you.

Adopt these tips today. It is a great solution to becoming a new and happier you. Do not go overboard though! Stay at a weight that is healthy for your body type. Schedule an appointment with a professional doctor so they can help you on this journey to getting the body you always wanted!
